The music of Northwest guitarist Brian Cunningham draws on a variety of influences ranging from jazz and folk to latin performed in a jazz trio setting. His original compositions feature the acoustic steel string guitar throughout, and can be described as melodic and evocative. The music does defy simple categorization, bordering on straight ahead jazz one moment, then taking on the character of a simple ballad or folk tune the next. While the performance always allows for a significant amount of improvisation and spontaneity the goal of the band is always to take the audience with them. The end result is an uplifting and truly enjoyable evening of original music. |
